Dr. Elvir Causevic is Chief Executive Officer of Black Stone IP. He was formerly a managing director at Ocean Tomo, LLC, where he was in charge of the strategic advisory service practice and the Ocean Tomo Ratings® platform. He was instrumental in Ocean Tomo’s role in the MIPS $350 million patent transaction. Before Ocean Tomo, Dr Causevic founded and ran several industrial, medical and high-tech companies, raising over $50 million in premier venture capital for his businesses, two of which were ultimately acquired by Fortune 500 companies.
Dr. Causevic is a named inventor on more than 20 patents and patent applications, and was a J.W. Gibbs assistant professor of applied mathematics at Yale University. Dr Causevic holds a B.S., M.S. and doctor of science degrees in electrical engineering from Washington University in St Louis and a JD from University of California Hastings College of the Law.
Mr. Fish is responsible for IP and tech transactions and strategies. He is an experienced technology company executive and board member, and has substantial experience in patent law and litigation, capital market fund raising, and corporate/business development strategy and execution. He previously served as President and a Board member at Digital Rights Management and IP Licensing pioneer, InterTrust, President & CEO at social education company ePals Corporation (now Cricket Media, TSX: CKT) (2010- 2014), and SVP Premium Services and SVP DeskTop Messaging at AOL. Mr Fish also specialized in Patent/IP transactions and litigation in the New York and Silicon Valley offices of national law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges, and served as a Law Clerk for Chief Judge Howard Markey on the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
With InterTrust’s founder, Mr. Fish helped build the Company from a small start-up to a Nasdaq-listed Company (ultimately sold to Sony and Philips for US$453M). He was responsible for building and later monetizing Intertrust’s extensive patent portfolio through licensing, litigation and standards-based activities. At AOL, Mr. Fish and his teams created over a dozen highly rated products in the instant messaging, security and computing performance, digital media, and education services sectors. He served as counsel for Genentech in the landmark patent and antitrust case, Genentech v. Eli Lilly & the University of California.
Mr. Fish holds more than 20 issued and pending US patents in such diverse fields as presence and instant messaging, social networking, mobile computing and search/discover technologies. Mr. Fish holds a Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University, and a JD magna cum laude and Order of the Coif from Wayne State University.
Mitchell Rosenfeld, Managing Director, heads patent analysis at Black Stone. He has over 25 years of patent experience representing clients ranging from Fortune 50 companies to Silicon Valley start-ups, with an emphasis on litigation, portfolio evaluation, complex licensing and sales transactions, and development and implementation of patent licensing campaigns. During his career, Mr. Rosenfeld has transacted in excess of US$150 million in IP assets. Mr. Rosenfeld has been involved in every stage of the patent process from initial invention to patent prosecution to exercising patent rights through licensing, sale and litigation.
Mr. Rosenfeld holds a BSc, cum laude, in physics from Duke University and a JD from George Washington University. He is also a member of the California State Bar and is registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office. He has been named by Intellectual Asset Management Magazine to the “IAM 300″ – The World’s 300 Leading Intellectual Property Strategists every year since 2011.
Kenneth Lustig is a Senior Advisor at Black Stone IP. He is a highly experienced operating executive with over 20 year of corporate leadership, M&A, private equity, and business development experience. From 2011 through 2014, Mr. Lustig was a Vice President at Intellectual Ventures (IV), overseeing Strategic Portfolio Monetization. Mr. Lustig led the team responsible for the development, management and monetization of a range of IV’s largest strategic IP portfolios, including the Kodak Digital Imaging patent portfolio. He was a member of the company’s Global Licensing leadership team, which was responsible for revenue generation across all the IV businesses. Mr. Lustig also oversaw IV’s Strategic Acquisitions and Investments Group and the Global Customer Engagement teams. Mr. Lustig spent more than 11 years at Microsoft, where he served most recently as the Managing Director of IP Investments and Acquisitions. He was head of the Content Guard venture (jointly owned with Time Warner and Technicolor), as well as responsible for some of Microsoft’s largest IP investments, licensing deals and patent litigation settlements. Mr. Lustig closed over $3 billion of transactions at Microsoft, including creating and overseeing a diversified IP investment portfolio and managing the Company’s inbound IP deal team. He spent several years leading part of Microsoft’s Corporate Development and Strategy Group focused on a range of sectors including global telecom, internet services, and emerging technologies. He was also a member of the Company’s Business Development leadership team, responsible for some of Microsoft’s largest partner engagements and business development initiatives. Preceding Microsoft, Mr. Lustig spent nine years as a global investment banker.
Mr. Lustig received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. He also earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a focus in Finance from New York University.
Pallavi Shah joined Black Stone IP as Senior Vice President of IP Transactions in May 2015.
As an industry recognized thought leader, spokesperson and champion in technology, innovation and intellectual property, Ms. Shah has focused on helping Fortune-100 companies and their partners montetize their innovations, bring many digital media and security technologies to market, and protect their innovations through filing of well over 100 patents. Ms. Shah has served as a Board Observer of venture-funded Silicon Valley startups, and has chaired various standards committees, including MPEG4-Java. She is also inventor of four US patents and has authored and presented multiple technical and business papers.
Prior to Black Stone IP, Ms. Shah served in various senior management roles at HP for over a decade, including where she monetized HP’s intellectual property through patent sales, technology transfer, channel / partner development and new business incubations. Before HP, she managed alliances for Sun Microsystems (now Oracle Corporation). Prior to Sun, Ms. Shah worked for the Stanford Research Institute (SRI), where she pioneered the world’s first interactive HDTV.
Pallavi holds MS in Electrical Engineering, and is fluent in English, Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi.
Mr. Matt Moyers is a Senior Director in Black Stone IP’s Advisory practice. Mr. Moyers has over 14 years of experience providing valuation opinions and consulting services for public and private clients, specializing in financial valuations of business enterprises, intangible assets, debt instruments, and complex securities for purpose of M&A advice; transfer pricing and tax services; and financial reporting assistance. He has served clients in a wide range of industries including, but not limited to technology, medical device, chemicals, consumer, consulting services, and financial services.
Mr. Moyers spent three years with Ocean Tomo’s valuation group that assisted clients with strategic advisory services related to IP and trademarks. Mr. Moyers also had a brief stint with RGL Forensics in Denver as well as over seven years at PwC in both the US and New Zealand. Mr. Moyers held valuation roles at PwC within Transfer Pricing, Corporate Finance (NZ) and Transaction Services. Mr. Moyers began his career in valuation at GoIndustries DoveBid and held a position as a Junior Fixed Income Research Analyst at Robert W. Baird.
Mr. Moyers has a B.Sc. in Business Administration with a concentration in finance from Colorado State University. He is also an Accredited Senior Appraiser with the American Society of Appraisers.
Ms. Sasha Sokhis joined Black Stone IP as Director of Business Development in December 2014. She previously held several positions at Thomson Reuters including Government Account Manager in the San Francisco Bay Area and West Account Manager in New York. She has worked with large law firms in all practice areas and state government agencies, focusing on legal research, litigation assistance and client relations. Her previous experience includes the US Attorney’s Office in San Diego and District Attorney’s Office in San Francisco.
Ms. Sokhis received her Judicial Doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She also has a BA in Psychology, with a minor in Political Studies, from UCLA.
Mr. Trevor M. Blum is a Valuation Director at Black Stone IP. Within the group, he assists clients with understanding, creating, and communicating actionable insights concerning the value of technology and IP for buy/sell side transactions, strategic planning, and fundraising. He has worked with clients, ranging from Fortune 100 to start-ups, in a variety of industries, including telecommunications, digital media, semiconductors, and financial institutions. Prior to his work at Black Stone IP, Mr. Blum was an Associate at Ocean Tomo, a litigation consultancy, in Chicago, IL where is specialized in valuation, restructuring, and IP-focused expert testimony.
Mr. Blum is a graduate of Indiana University – Bloomington, B,Sc. (Hons) in Business Economics and Public Policy and The University of Cambridge, Jesus College, MBA in Finance.
Mr. Edin Skaljic is a Director of European Office at Black Stone IP. In his role, he manages team of engineers, economists, programmers and lawyers. Prior, Mr. Skaljic worked as a lead of patent analytics consultant team providing services to Ocean Tomo, an IP consultancy. Mr Skaljic has over decade of engineering and managerial experience with U.S. Army and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Mr. Skaljic earned his M.Eng. and B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Kyle F. Dietz is the Director of Transactions at Black Stone IP. Mr. Dietz has extensive experience in financial analysis roles with a focus on intellectual property valuation, transactions, monetization and strategy. Mr. Dietz has provided valuation services for IP litigations, IP transactions and IP licensing programs, including patent pools. Mr. Dietz also has experience developing new ventures and products. As a founding employee of the International Property Exchange International (IPXI), Mr. Dietz directly contributed to the development of the firm’s go-to-market strategy, the creation and implementation of best practices and processes, and the achievement of proof of concept. At Ocean Tomo, Mr. Dietz co-developed the novel Patent Royalty Trust™ intellectual property insurance product and co-authored the firm’s first Hatch-Waxman dispute expert report.
Mr. Dietz graduated magna cum laude from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He holds a dual B.S. in Finance and Entrepreneurship & Corporate Innovation and a minor in Spanish.
Mr. Uzunov is a Business Development Lead at Black Stone IP. Within the Business Development group, he is responsible for identifying strategic opportunities and building relationships with new clients. Prior to joining Black Stone IP, his work focused on the cross section between innovation and policy/strategy development. He started his career at the Congressional Research Service later moving to the United States Congress where we worked on legislative issues focused on telecom and intellectual property legislation. During his time at the Illinois Science and Technology Coalition (ISTC) he championed a patent data based network-analysis of innovation ecosystems and built partnerships between the academic, startup, and corporate sector.
Mr. Uzunov holds an MSc in Intellectual Property Management and Markets (IPMM) from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is also an MA graduate from the University of Chicago and holds a BA summa cum laude from Victoria University – Wellington, New Zealand. In additional to English, he is fortunate to speak Bulgarian, Italian, and French.
Mr. Abaz holds the position of Junior Engineer at Black Stone IP. His major duties are technical analysis of patent portfolios and competitive landscape, ranking the quality of the patents and preparing, investigating and creating initial in-depth patent analysis. He supports Business Development Research, Marketing Research and Marketing Presentations.
Mr. Abaz holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Sarajevo.
Mr. Andric is a Senior IP Law Specialist at Black Stone IP. He works on a variety of legal and business matters within the company, including research and analysis of U.S. and European patent law and litigation, and intellectual property and competitiveness appraisal. Before joining Black Stone IP, he practiced constitutional and criminal law for the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in private practices focused on IP and investment law in Barcelona, Spain.
Mr. Andric has LL.B. degrees from University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and University of Barcelona Schools of Law, and an LL.M. degree in Competition, Innovation and Information Law from New York University School of Law. He is fluent in English, Spanish and German.
Mr. Behlulovic is an IP Law analyst at Black Stone IP. His responsibilities in the company are patent analysis, research of the patent litigation and patent application processes, patent portfolio, product, technology and company research and analysis. He also supports business development, patent surveillance, patent & IP landscapes, royalty rate and research in mergers and acquisitions. His previous experience with patents and the intellectual property space is associated to legal research groups and a wide range of international conferences.
Mr. Behlulovic studied at the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo.
Mr. Behlulovic is a Business Development Lead Generation Analyst at Black Stone IP. He gathers and works with data to create new leads. His work helps the Business Development team to maintain industry contacts, company and technology research and to monitor IP transactions and litigations. He also supports the IP law team in the Sarajevo office.
Vivian Causevic is the Social Media Manager and Marketing Intern. Ms. Causevic’s duties include creating brand awareness on social media platforms, publicizing the company’s current projects and events, developing an online representation of the company and marketing our services to potential clients and partners. Ms. Causevic has served as a Social Media Marketing Intern for California-based event production companies and artist management agencies.
Ms. Causevic is a third-year Neuroscience [undergraduate] at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Once graduated, she intends to attend law school to pursue a law degree.
Neven Dakic is an Senior Software Engineer at Blackstone IP. Mr. Dakic has over ten years of experience in IT Engineering, Web Design and Development, Graphic Design and Software Engineering. Before joining Blackstone IP, Mr. Dakic worked as a member of the programming team providing consulting software solutions for Ocean Tomo LLC and was a Founder and Developer at bDevelop LLC.
Mr. Dakic studied at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo and the IT Academy, Software Development Department in Belgrade.
As an Intellectual Property Analyst at Black Stone IP, Mr. Hadziabdic provides assistance to a multitude of projects. He has three years’ experience in research with a focus on patentability, validity, freedom-to-operate, and infringement and qualitative analysis with an emphasis on intellectual property and patent portfolios. His strengths in legal, technical, and business industries has enabled him to identify trends in the technology industry by conducting competitive landscape studies. Mr. Hadziabdic is an expert in commercial and other proprietary databases that disclose technical publications.
Mr. Hadziabdic holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Sarajevo and is currently working on his Master’s Thesis in the same field.
Ms. Alda Hanjalic is a Project Manager at Black Stone IP. She works with a wide range of projects, including valuation, IP strategy, and patent pool advisory. Her previous experiences include internships at Aistemos, an IP and big data analytics start-up based in London, UK and Palo AltoResearch Center (PARC) where she worked on patent assessments, valuation, and commercialization strategy engagements. Previous employments also include a position within procurement at Ericsson in Sweden.
Ms. Hanjalic earned her B.Sc. in Economics and Manufacturing and M.Sc. in Intellectual Capital Management (ICM) from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. The ICM education specializes in the intersection of technology, law and business and is unique in its nature.
Mr. Hrustanovic is a Junior Engineer, Analytics at Black Stone IP. His duties are technical analysis of patent portfolios and competitive landscapes, and ranking the quality of the patents. He has two years’ of experience in patent analytics. Prior to joining Black Stone IP, he worked in the Collection Department with Hypo Alpe Adria Bank.
Mr. Hrustanovic earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Faculty of Electrical Engineering University of Sarajevo and recently started his master studies in the same field.
Mr. Ibrisevic is a Financial & IP Analyst at Black Stone IP. He is engaged in financial and market analytics, with a focus on financial modeling. Prior to joining Black Stone IP, Mr. Ibrisevic was a Media Planning Manager at eMediaPatch, a New York-based digital media agency with offices in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina. He managed their online media campaigns and reporting for AMC Networks, Sundance Channel, Wikia.com and few more.
Mr. Ibrisevic holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration/Financial Management from the University of Sarajevo. He is currently pursuing an MBA in the same field from the Karl-Franzens University.
Arosh Merpour is a patent analyst. Mr. Merpour is a recent graduate from Hastings College of the Law with a focus on intellectual property and corporate law. While at Hastings he was on the board of the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly. He has diverse legal work experience ranging from federal agricultural law to family law.
Mr. Merpour holds a Juris Doctor from Hastings College of the Law and a BS in Biological Sciences and a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine.
Ms. Smajic joined Black Stone IP as a Financial Analyst in 2015. Her focus is on providing research and analytical support for patent valuations. Aside from her primary responsibilities, Ms. Smajic supports the business development team by providing comprehensive analysis and presentations related to Black Stone IP clients. As an Investment Analyst, her previous experience includes merger & acquisition, deal generation, assessment of investment opportunities and business development for RSM Advisory BiH, member of RSM International.
Ms. Smajic is a graduate of The School of Economics and Business in Sarajevo from the School of Economics and Business.
Mr. Trogrlić joined the Black Stone IP team as a Junior Engineer in July 2015. He is responsible for the technical analysis of patent portfolios based on his electrical engineering experience. He also held a position as a summer intern with Verlab, a medical verification laboratory in Sarajevo, Bosnia.
Mr. Trogrlić earned his Bachelor’s degree in the field of Electrical Engineering from Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo. He continued his studies at the University with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and is currently working on his Master’s Thesis in the field of Biomedical Engineering.
Bwo-Han Yung is a Senior Technical Expert for portfolio technical development for maximizing monetization. Mr. Yung was a Portfolio Director at Intellectual Ventures (IV) responsible for Semiconductor and Consumer Electronics sectors. Before IV, Mr. Yung has decades of engineering and business strategist positions at IBM.
Mr. Yung holds a MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and BS in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University.

The Assistant General Counsel/Contracts Management plays a pivotal role to support the Business Development and Delivery teams, and will be a liaison between them. It’s a complex position requiring both legal skills in contract creation and management, but also people and organizational skills given the required interaction with sophisticated clients and busy internal teams.
This role will be responsible for the creation and oversight of all new project proposals, term sheets, and engagement letter documents. The role will also play a pivotal role in the business development process, working closely with the BD team members to understand the BSIP solutions, translating the “scope of work” of each project into concise and accurate proposals and subsequent documents. Nearly all our clients are highly experienced technology company in-house or outside counsel.
This role will work closely with the VP of Business Development and Business Development Lead to drive the strategic vision of BSIP to serve our clients and create an efficient internal process. The role will have a dotted line relationship to our General Counsel, who will provide legal support as well as professional and legal career development.
