Robelis Despaigne may be new to MMA and the UFC, but he doesn’t see himself too removed from combating for the heavyweight title.
The unbeaten prospect believes that in 2025 he will likely be difficult whoever is the UFC heavyweight champion. Despaigne (19-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) thinks a win over Waldo Cortes-Acosta (11-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) this Saturday at UFC on ESPN 56 in St. Louis, plus just a few extra this 12 months will put him into competition to be combating for the belt early subsequent 12 months.

With UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones injured, Stipe Miocic ready on the sidelines, and interim champ Tom Aspinall’s future up within the air, Despaigne hopes that issues clear up by the point he will get to the title image.
He believes Jones will beat Miocic in his return, however sees Aspinall ultimately taking the belt.
“That may be a shut battle, but when it’s a matter of momentum, I believe that Aspinall can pull it off and win the crown,” Despaigne stated. “However we all know the standard that Jon Jones has, so he can all the time shock.”
If Despaigne have been to win a UFC title, he’d be the primary Cuban fighter within the historical past of the UFC. For the Olympic bronze medalist in taekwondo, that will be particular.
