Ben Askren Criticizes Thought of Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira Earlier than Tom Aspinall Battle
Throughout a current version of “Funky & the Champ,” Ben Askren shared his concern over Alex Pereira’s means to defend takedowns in a possible matchup towards Jon Jones (by way of MMAFighting).
“We noticed Pereira get taken down by [Israel] Adesanya and he was saved down for, truly, a good portion of time. And it’s sort of wild that we now have this man Pereira, and there’s little doubt he’s making his mark as, probably, probably the greatest ever if he retains successful, but [there] are questions on his wrestling. Like, how would he do towards good wrestling? And we don’t know as a result of someway Jamahal Hill didn’t strive a takedown, [Jiri] Prochazka didn’t strive a takedown, [Jan] Blachowicz truly did take him down and hold him down for a spherical, Strickland didn’t strive a takedown. … Like, these guys, they don’t strive takedowns.”
Finally, Askren believes that Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall is the struggle to make and he feels it’s flawed to maintain the interim titleholder ready.
“We need to see Jon Jones struggle Tom Aspinall,” Askren stated. “Aspinall’s obtained the interim belt, Jon’s obtained the [other] belt. It simply doesn’t make any sense. Simply freaking make them struggle, after which if Jon beats him, then Pereira vs. Jon.
“You possibly can’t depart Tom Aspinall sitting right here with the interim belt.”
